Thanksgiving post

This Thanksgiving was beautifully hectic.  I always put on a Thanksgiving dinner for James, the girls, and myself.  We’ve done this since L. was 3 months old and we didn’t want to take her out in the crazy Ohio weather.  It was so much fun and so nice to just have an intimate dinner just the 4 of us.  Now, it is still the 4 of us and I wouldn’t want it any other way.  I figure it’s my gift to my family to show them how ‘thankful’ I am for all of them.

Now as the girls get older, they help me out in the kitchen, as well as making a craft.  This year we decided to do the name tags (yes, four people, it can get pretty confusing who’s to sit where) and I had the girls trace their hands (the thumb being the turkeys head and the fingers the feathers).

L. was in charge of feathering the birds and K. in charge of writing everyone’s names.  (After all, all L. knows to write is her name)

As far as dinner, I had 2 little assistants in the kitchen with me this year.  L. loves to help with the mash potatoes and K. makes her own biscuits (yes she does and they are delicious).  They even helped set the table and this year they were aloud to use my favorite wine glasses (soda replaced the wine for them).

A thing that we’ve done since K. was old enough to actually pick up food and eat was we’ve always had a pomegranate with our Thanksgiving dinner.

There is a lot to be thankful this year, James working construction and hasn’t got laid off, K. getting on the Honor Roll in school, L.’s new saying “No, I can do it! I’m a big girl!”, and my family.  I love these 3 people I have in my life and thank God for them daily.

It is nice to have just family for Thanksgiving dinner. I like the picture of your table, looks very sweet. Your list of things to be thankful for reminded me I had a lot to be thankful for to… every once in a while we need a reminder. 🙂
