shameless self promotion
A while ago I had met a friend of a friend. Two super awesome gals that were opening their own shop in the Art District of Downtown Canton. James and I have been going to First Friday which is basically an art festival and so much fun! Many different artist selling their works and tons of amazing food!
This friend of a friend that I met found out that I knitted and wanted some hand knit hats for sale in her shop. I squeed at the chance and have been working on hats non-stop. Hats have always been my favorite projects to make and it has been fun playing around with colors I do not normally use as well as push myself to step away from using a pattern. Luckily though I have made enough hats that I can make them without a pattern, but still, it is hard for me to debate whether something is going to fit right without having the person in front of me.
(notes on this hat above are on my Ravelry page)
These are just a few that have been flying off my needles. The last one (pictured above) is my favorite. As I said, it is great working with colors I do not normally work with (like black) and trying to invent new ways to create hand knitted hats.
The up side is that I do not write down my patterns. When I make the girls’ hats I write down sizes, how many stitches, and any other pattern notes. But because these hats are “play by ear” (except the purple mistake rib hat that one I want to re-create in many different colors) each one will be different from the next. Making them 100% truly original handmade knitted hats.
And when I came back home from dropping the kids off at school, I noticed somebunny got into my knitting basket.
The photo made Miss L. day. Crazy how bored I get with no kids home now.
