Stroke of luck

Having to run out to do errands today, I happened to pass by this place that was having a moving sale. Of course I had to stop. A garage sale, not on the weekend, these people really wanted to get rid of their stuff.
Walking around and about to leave (not alot of good stuff, could see why they were getting rid of it) I happened to spot this box that was partially opened. What had caught my eye was a little embroidery goodness. I opened it up it and kept finding all these yummy things inside, looked outside the box and it had a sticker on it saying “$3”. hhmmmm…………$3 for the entire box, or $3 for each item inside the box………hhmmmmm…………So I asked the lady and she said $3 for the entire box. I about knocked her out whipping my wallet out so freakin’ fast.
Inside were 20 hand crocheted doiles (she informed me they were made by her Mother that passed away 4 years ago), 5 hand embroidered tea towels, and 2 hand embroidered hankerchiefs (also handmade by her Mother).
The doilies I have a few plans for, the usual mostly (placing them on end tables and what not) but I have a plan for them that I will go into greater detail about next week. As far as the tea towels, they have now become my new kitchen curtains (above the sink).

That is one great score! I love them hung on the window so they’re backlit. And how wonderful that these beautiful things were found by someone who appreciates their beauty and all the work and artistry that went into their making.

~The Queen of Fifty Cents~ Thank you! I really am happy that I’ve found these. I now have all the doilies washed up and dryed.
~Renna~ I’m with you, I feel as if they are blessings as well. It sounded more to me as if the lady just wanted to get rid of them because they were her Mother’s and she didn’t want the “memory” still around. Maybe as a way to get over her Mother’s death. Either way, I’m more than thrilled to take them off her hands.

Awe Tara, you are so sweet. Actually, we’ve been fine. The flooding season is over for us. We were almost flooded in back in March from the ton of snow melting.
